hobbies and work in youth

Let me introduce myself, my name is Andi Yusril, born in the city of Parepare on March 31 2000. Since I was little, I was raised by my mother and her siblings, so I am used to not feeling the figure of a father in my daily life, but that doesn't stop me from feeling it. sadness. Precisely because I was raised by an aunt who had quite a lot of children and most of them were productive or liked music as a hobby, so indirectly I became interested in music as a hobby.

As someone born to a single parent with four children, I was moved to my aunt's house to be adopted when I was 7 years old or had entered elementary school. I stayed at my aunt's house for quite a long time, because my aunt took turns inviting me to stay at her house, and the average number of children from each aunt who invited me was around 5 siblings. So you could say that in my family there are quite a lot of cousins, the majority of whom are male and not too far apart in age. So this is what influences the closeness of our relationship as cousins.

The education level has entered junior high school, I see that many of my cousins have talent in the world of music. Because he often represents the school in national competitions. During each practice process, I often watched my cousin practice music. I got used to these things so I started to enjoy my musical hobby.

Based on my interest in music, I started learning to play an instrument Modern music in this case is a drum musical instrument. Because one of my cousins is quite often in the same line, he plays the drum instrument. So I didn't need to enroll in a music course, but I learned directly from my cousin the basics of playing this musical instrument. To develop my skills, I studied autodidactically so as not to bother my cousin too much.

Having grown up, I and several other cousins have studied high school. I also no longer live at my aunt's house, because I feel a little proud, perhaps influenced by the age factor which makes my thinking more open. My cousin is also getting more serious and developing into the music industry. Some are starting to provide live music entertainment in Parepare city cafes, I see that as a form of development. This also made me more motivated and active in practicing playing the drums, slowly my skills began to improve until I reached the point where I was invited to play at cafes in Parepare.

My first experience when I was invited to play in a cafe was at the Pales Teduh cafe, which was a cafe that was quite busy being visited at that time because it had a slightly different concept from the others, in this case the tree house concept. The impression at that time was that I felt very happy with this hobby because it could get the attention of the people watching, apart from that, it was also the first time I had received payment from people for the music services that had been presented. Not bad to cover pocket money at school at that time.

At that time, my mother no longer gave me pocket money. Maybe it's because of economic factors, plus many of my other relatives need daily expenses. This created independence in me to have to earn my own income, at least to cover my daily needs. Therefore, I decided to look for additional work, by applying to work in a cafe as a barista (drink mixer), as a result, thank God, I was accepted. That's where I had my first experience in the world of work, where every time I came home from school I had to continue the afternoon shift at the cafe, to serve drink orders to customers. I felt an unstoppable sense of joy when I received my first salary from my boss at that time, I felt that I had enough money for IDR. 750,000 for a school child like me at that time.

As time went by, my experience and skills in the F&B world began to increase, which meant I also had to move to a bigger place. I tried to apply at a more prestigious and quite large cafe in Parepare, it didn't take long for me to be accepted. But before telling me about my work experience in a new place, I will tell you again about my musical hobby.

When I was first accepted at the cafe where I first worked. The boss gave me a policy so that every night of the week I could take time off work. Maybe this is a question in your head, why does it have to be a weekend? Isn't Sunday night the busy time for cafes? I was given the policy because the boss implemented a family system, and he knew that at that time I quite often played live music at cafes every Saturday night. The band I was in at that time was growing so much that they started getting job offers for birthday events or the slang term sweet seventeen seventeen, liven up the momentum of my class's birthday event. The pay we get is also quite bigger than usual, when we fill in at cafes, and the songs we sing are not too many. The more I come here, I think about pursuing this musical hobby, because every time I get a new stage, I always feel very happy and happy, and that feeling of joy increases even more when I receive payment for playing music.

From stage to stage, of course, I suddenly had enough savings. Taking the initiative to have my own equipment, that's why I decided to buy a drum at a price that wasn't too expensive, basically according to my savings situation at that time and basically it could be used to practice independently. Because I'm already happy with my music hobby, I'm not half-hearted in upgrading everything I need for a gig. But on the other hand, I have to save money, because there are still many school needs that I have to pay for independently.

Soon, my friends and I in the band will finish high school, which means we are a little closer to finishing school. I didn't expect this band to be well known among teenagers our age in the city of Parepare at that time. So many job offers come in to play at several schools' pension events. Play as the opening band before the main artist performs who was invited directly by the school. I felt very happy because I played at a pensi event and was watched live by my school friends and that was the biggest stage while I was playing music and it was also the final stage with my comrades in starting a band together, because some of us had to leave the island to continue our education, and others were starting their careers in the world of work like people who are starting to start their careers and the real world.

I myself am still in the same city, namely Parepare, continuing my education at a fairly well-known campus in this city, namely IAIN Parepare. Regarding my hobby, I am still involved in the world of music, there are many offers to keep playing. However, in this case I am considered a freelance player because I don't have a music group but am still productive in playing music. Regarding work, I still work in a cafe as a barista because only from there can I get a steady income every month to cover my study needs and daily needs. I no longer play live music in cafes because my academic and work time is a bit busy, so I only accept freelance calls when I have free time. The next stage is also only accepted at large events, so that the wages you get are also large, even if only once, but the wages are enough to be used for a long time.

To be more productive in the world of music, I decided to join the student activity unit at IAIN Parepare which is arts oriented. So on the other hand I can learn a lot and can also share the experiences I have gained while making music. This occurred to me, so that it could also be a charity. At this point, academics are a bit messy because I have to do a lot of repetition and the main factor is my absence from class. Therefore I need to reduce external activities outside of work. Because work is also quite important for me, so that I can complete my studies and also live my daily life.

In conclusion, my hobby in music has almost become a profession so that when I enter a truly professional industry, this is not just a hobby but has become a job. Regarding the current job as a barista, it is only a side job to meet daily material needs.
